Meeting set up with Dominic Rabb!
I am pleased to announce that due to some hard work put in by the local Big Climate Connection co-ordinator, Mark Varney, Dominic Rabb has agreed to meet us!
Today i went along to Dominic Rabb's surgery at Walton library. I went along as though he had agreed to meet us, we hadn't yet got a venue confirmed. He has now confirmed that he will meet us at Walton Library, 4.30pm on Friday 5th November.
If you are interested in meeting us to discover what we aim to discuss with Dominic Rabb, or you have something you would like to say about climate change to him, please get in touch with either myself, or Mark Varney. We will hold a meeting on Wednesday 3rd November around 7.45pm - location to be announced.

Big Climate Connection
Have you heard about the Big Climate Connection?
The Big Climate Connection has been set up by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. The aim is for concerned citizens to lobby their MP by sending letters and setting up meetings on the 5th and 6th of November. You can go on the website to find out how to get involved and join your local lobby.
Writing a letter will only take half an hour, and could be the catalyst to making your MP aware of climate change: 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it's the only thing that ever does' Margaret Mead.
If your not sure who your MP is, take a look at the web site they work for you and check out what issues your MP is interested in. This will help you when it comes to write a letter to them regarding your climate change concerns.

For instance, my MP is Dominic Raab. It seems he is interested in business so i will write a letter to him emphasising the importance of the green sector in creating jobs in the UK. I will also speak of Britain's need to invest in, rather than give aid to developing countries. In short, I will play down the climate change disaster argument and focus instead on how business can play a practical, and moral role, in fighting the effects of Climate Change.
Happy letter writing!

Quiz given at 'Sisters on the Planet' Film showing.
'Sisters on the Planet' Film on World Food Day 16th October
The Oxfam DVD 'Sisters on the Planet' depicts four inspirational women, from different parts of the World, and their fight against Climate Change.
This DVD aims to show how Climate Change is already having a direct, and disproportionate impact on people in developing countries, women especially. It is an inspirational film showing the enthusiasm, commitment and dedication of these women to find solutions to their problems. Each of the women are affected in very different ways by climate change and have all chosen in one way or another to fight against it.
The aim of this film is to show the solidarity between humanity; the idea that we are all in this together, and so are all part of the solution.
If you want to watch this short film you can order your free copy from Oxfam - just follow this link:

Before Showing the Film 'Sisters on the Planet'
Letting People settle in before the start of the film - also keeping all fingers and toes crossed that the projector would work! Having a stall with leaflets and books was great as while we waited for other people to turn up there were things for people to do and look at.
